Katrina...

Wat a nice name.... Katrina...

Was reading the papers today and finally finally finally, was moved to read about the hurricane that hit the US. Wenta BBC and CNN to read about it and all... and at least have a basic understanding of the situation now...NOt sure where exactly, but if i'm not wrong, its in the New Orleans.... where in America is New Orleans i'm not really sure. But .... what i noe currently is that a huge storm hit a part of US some 4 days ago and is causing lots of damage.

Experts estimates that it'll take years to rebuild the affected areas back. Wow! Like Aceh liddat. i guess the Mayor has a point when he said "It is our tsunami".

"To protect the city from disaster, city planners designed and built a complex system of flood defences after the Mississippi burst its banks in devastating fashion in 1927." Hhaa.... cmon,.... this IS mother nature.

Read somewhere some days ago that ppl were rushing towards the Superdome for shelter. Read later today that part of the roof kena blown away and that theyre evacuating ppl out of the stadium now. But dennagain, read on the next page that evacuations have been halted as there were shots fired towards the helicopter and that arson fires have broke out. Read about looting and lawlessness and other stuffs u normally see on films. Heard that troops hav been called in from Iraq to curb the lawlessness and that the soldiers are armed with M-16s that have been "locked and loaded" and have been given the order of shoot-to-kill. It was reported that 20000 ppl were squeezed inside the SUperdome and that there are ppl who were killed inside. People who were raped inside. Looters shooting a policeman in the head. Total chaos. Anarchy.

Man....really seems like scenes from the movies but its actually happening in the US!

One of the casinos that used to be anchored off-shore has been lifted right out of the water."

COuld this be a scene in Singapore?
One really cant deny its possibility. Once a famous tourist destination, It is feared that it may not be possible to bring back the sparkle of New Orleans. And all this in just a matter of 4 days. Unimaginable rite? But believe it....

Singapore's a growing nation.....with dreams of becoming the best city in the world. I read in a Today newspaper last Saturday that Singapore could be a possible target of terrorist attack. But security analysts say that like Japan, Singapore is prepared for any imminent attack on its land. Maybe.... With the aid of technology and all, maybe...just maybe Singapore will be protected from the dangers of Man. But will it be protected from Mother Nature?

Sheltered by Malaysia and Indonesia...... haha....true....true.... But how many of u really think that we're indeed safe? Its simply a matter of time. At least i believe it to be so. I've always have.

Casinos casinos casinos. Replicate the Western model? Hahah..... And what the West in experiencing now will be replicated here as well....

And i also saw glimpses of reports of typhoons hitting Taiwan and so on. Wahlao...... is it just me or is God showing what He is capable of bit by bit. And at this point in time, Geog students like Kim might be thinking of concepts and theories he has learnt during Geog to expl all this phenomena. haahaha.....

..... i think i wrote this essay before and even published it on this blog! Wonder what was my stand....

Hmmmmmmmmmm....in other words, what i m saying is that i've missed so much action this past 4 days lah! WASTED!!! Normally, this kind of things i'll follow its developments one. Like looking at how the death toll is rising and so on. Am not kiddin here.... am not being childish here..... neither am i making a joke of sthg like this.

Man have been reminded so many many many many times that there's a power much more superior than Man can imagine. As more and more of us try to "play God" ..... someone's simply showing that no matter how much one tries.... there'll only be ONe God. This only serves as a reminder to Man who have more often than not been led astry by Man himself. Whether or not Man decides to heed this warning is the thing now. haha...... keep justifying wats happening now wif ur geog concepts. The day you'll stop explaining phenomenons such as this will be the day when what u see will really really make u speechless. But if we do live till such a day.....i wonder.... will there be time to make ammends and repent?
